Mungo Mountainless Bike Lakebed Loop Trail

Cycling along this route is a great way to enliven the senses and get a feel for the vast desert of Mungo National Park in the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area. Starting at Mungo Visitor Centre, you’ll cycle past dunes and wide open skies with the chance to do some birdwatching, spot wildlife and visit historic Zanci Homestead site.
A perfect early morning or sunset adventure, you’ll be adding your tracks to a landscape that includes some of the oldest evidence of human and animal life in the world. The is 35km loop which for the most part is across the Lake Mungo lakebed can be a bit soft and dusty in places. What is lacks in elevation challenge however, it can certainly make up for in other ways.
In addition to your cycling gear, don’t forget to take enough water, puncture repair gear and pump, sunscreen and don’t forget the camera.
