Murray River Salt began producing salt flakes in 2000 at the Mourquong salt mitigation basin, which is 13kms North West of Mildura. The concentrated brine is pumped up from an ancient inland sea where the water travels through several canals before making its way to crystalliser ponds. The brine is evaporated by the sun and harvested in the summer months.
