Food & Wine

Eating and drinking are an important part of your visit to Mildura. As you move around Mildura and the region you will see the orchards, vineyards and market gardens that supply the many restaurants, cafes, cellar doors, gourmet food outlets and market stalls that serve up great fresh food every day of the week.

Ambassador - Stefano de Pieri

Celebrity chef and author Stefano de Pieri is the region's Tourism Ambassador for food and wine. Well known as a result of his ABC-TV series, his many cookbooks and award-winning restaurant, Stefano continues to do a great deal to promote the Murray's vast array of culinary resources.

His restaurant Stefano's, is located in the cellar of the Grand Hotel in Mildura where local Murray produce is used to prepare dishes in the regional style of Stefano's birthplace in Northern Italy. You can also sample Stefano's food at his Cafe Bakery, Gallery, Cellar Door & Bar located at 25 Deakin Avenue.

Look out for Stefano's new television series filmed in and around Mildura, Stefano's Cooking Paradiso on the Lifestyle Food Channel this spring!

Local produce

Mildura is a major food bowl. Its irrigated agricultural land produces most of Australia's dried fruit, as well as table grapes and citrus. The area also grows most of the country's almonds, pistachios, olives, carrots, asparagus, and 21 per cent of wine grape crush.

Local wines

The Mildura wine region has a climate that favours viticulture and a long history of growing grapes. It has flourished into an exciting region renowned for quality wines.

Places to eat

Mildura is renowned for its many and diverse opportunities to eat. From the famous restaurants on Feastreet to riverside country pubs and cellar doors or restaurants on historic paddleboats, you can count on a warm welcome and the chef using fresh locally-grown produce.

Mildura's liquid assets extend further than the Mighty Murray River with award winning wineries and its very own award winning micro-brewery.
